Moments of Spain is an exciting rhythmical piece and has both Spanish and grooved-based influences. The piece is dedicated to the great pianist and jazz composer, Chick Corea. The composition involves both the use of clapping and castanets. The drum set plays an important role for the groove feeling in the piece. Now also for orchestra, wind band and brass band:
Johan M. Leiva wrote Moments of Spain for Lurlåt Wind Band in 2006 and the piece was performed by them the same year at the Norwegian Championships. The piece was also orchestrated for orchestra and performed abroad, and arranged for brass band in the summer of 2009. (duration: c.6.40 min)
