Moments of Spain is a rhythmic and exciting piece, it has influence from both Spanish and groove-based music. It is dedicated to the great Jazz composer and piano player Chick Corea.
The piece makes use of handclaps and castanets, and the drum set plays an important role in maintaining the grooves.
Now for orchestra, wind band and brassband:
Johan M. Leiva wrote Moments of Spain for Lurlåt Wind Band in 2006 and the piece was performed by them the same year at the Norwegian Championships. The piece was also orchestrated for orchestra and performed abroad, and arranged for brass band in the summer of 2009.
