Espana is a mysterious piece of music, sounds of Spain, sometimes in the distance. Both dark and beautiful, rich in sounds and harmonies. Very melodic in spite of the shades of sometimes darker qualities, a painting musical landscape and reflections, also in a voice of silence.

The Fairytale Waltz was originally composed in 2008 as a solo piece for trumpet and piano, to my daughter Sophia. The Fairytale Waltz is a playful piece, with many surprises on the way. You can here elements of Jazz and classical music in a distance, but with a visual touch, with filmatic flow and atmosphere. The piece is both airy and drifty, sometimes more majestic and has also a slow beautiful section in it.
In 2011 it was orchestrated for full orchestra as well, exploring some of the wonderful colors of the orchestra. (duration: c.5 min) Level: Intermediate to advanced |

Nebula is a slow piece with poetic melodic lines and harmonies, in a rubato style. The sound is distant, mysterious and moving, like the meaning of the name Nebula, to do with the endless universe. Nebula is a cloud of dust and gas in space, usually illuminated by one or more stars. Nebulae represent the raw material the stars are made of. Maybe in musical resemblance.

Wake Up is a small and nice piece I wrote for my daughter entering a solo competition some years ago. She won the competition, which was a proud moment for us all in the family. If you want to play a melodic ear-catching piece with nice harmonies I would definitely recommend this piece. (duration: c.2.15 min) Level: Intermediate

200 Years of Change is a instrumental majestic ballad for solo trumpet and piano. The piece has a clear classical reference, with a strong visual character. It was originally commissioned by Lindås municipality and School of Arts in 2014, and in conjunction with the bicentenary for the Norwegian Constitution 1814–2014. It was originally composed for brass band, choir, band and trumpet solo. 200 years of evolving Norwegian democracy clearly signify pride and humbleness, let’s hope it will remain, or that the nation will build within the same framework for the future.

Where Memory Stays is a slow song originally for voice and was written in 1988. The words are of a rather sentimental nature and move in a landscape of dreams, hope, fear and fantasy. In 2010 I also rewrote and rearranged the piece for solo flute and orchestra, but now also for solo trumpet and piano.

You’re Leaving is now available for solo trumpet and piano, it is originally a song by Johan M. Leiva. It’s not too difficult to play on trumpet, but has a very nice harmonic piano part, with a nice melody in the trumpet.
