Happy new year everybody!

Hi everyone! Today, the first day in 2018 I've decided to release some trumpet and piano music. I'm very happy to do this with two great musicians, Henning Anundsen on solo trumpet and Ljubov Katerli on piano.
The music has been recorded by Håvard Matland at Manger folkehøgskole and it has been mixed and mastered by Torstein Lunde. Thanks to all of you for participating on this EP music release, and to Manger folkehøgskole (Music school) for letting us use the location and the grand piano for this project.

It's a new year with new possibilities for all of us. Personally I've not had enough time for blogging lately, I've been too busy with music projects and music technology, In 2018 I will do some more blogging. I wish you all a happy and peaceful New Year! I'll be very happy if you listen to my music, and also if you share it.

Listen to the music on the link under on Spotify,
i-Tunes or CD Baby

Buy the sheet music and download here

If you want to play these pieces yourself on trumpet, cornet or flugelhorn you can buy      them here for download and play along, click link over.

Four pieces

This is music for solo trumpet and piano, it's an EP I'm releasing, four pieces of music. The style is in the direction of classical music, but some of it also sounds more filmatic. The music sometimes moves in a landscape between expressive atmospheric jazz and classical music. The musical genre is of less importance to me, the perception of music and culture of our time is probably more relevant.
Picture

España

España is a mysterious piece of music, sounds of Spain, sometimes in the distance. Both dark and beautiful, rich in sounds and harmonies. Very melodic in spite of the shades of sometimes darker qualities, a painting of musical landscape and reflections, also in a voice of silence. (duration: c.4.45 min)

Wake Up

Wake Up is a small and nice piece I wrote for my daughter for a solo competition some years ago. She won the competition, which was a proud moment for us all in the family. If you want to play a melodic ear-catching piece with nice harmonies I would definitely recommend this piece. (duration: c.2.15 min)
Picture

Nebula

Nebula is a slow piece with poetic melodic lines and harmonies, in a rubato style. The sound is distant, mysterious and moving, as in the meaning of the word Nebula, to do with the endless universe. Nebula is a cloud of dust and gas in space, usually illuminated by one or more stars. Nebulae represent the raw material the stars are made of. Maybe in musical resemblance. (duration: c.3.45 min)

The Fairytale Waltz

The Fairytale Waltz was originally composed in 2008 as a solo piece for trumpet and piano, for my daughter Sophia. The Fairytale Waltz is a playful piece, with many surprises on the way. You can here elements of Jazz and classical music in a distance, but with a visual touch, with filmatic flow and atmosphere. The piece has an airiness about it, yet sometimes majestic and has also a slow beautiful section. In 2011 it was orchestrated for full orchestra as well, exploring some of the wonderful colours of the orchestra. (duration: c.5 min)

Henning Anundsen - solo trumpet

Henning was born in Stavanger where he learned to play the cornet in Tasta school band. He studied trumpet at the Grieg Academy under Helge Haukås. He has been working as a freelance musician, music teacher and conductor since then. He has worked, among others, with Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and the Norwegian Navel Force Band. Also in his spare time music making is important, and he spent over 20 happy years with the well renowned Eikanger-Bjørsvik Musikklag.

Ljubov Katerli - piano

Ljubov, b. 1981 is a multilateral pianist who performs both as a soloist and chamber musician. Her musical education is from Russia, Finland and Norway. Ljubov is interested in contemporary music and cooperation with the composers of our time.

New music In memory of the victims of Oslo and Utøya.
22nd July 2011 the world in Norway was blown away without any warning, we will feel the effects for a long time to come. A tsunami of darkness brought Norway to a sudden standstill, it was inconceivable. A part of Norway has disapeared, and may never be found. How can the architecture of one man cause so much harm? After all this is small country breathing democracy. It still seems unbelievable.

Norway has paid a high price; political fractions, blame, and sometimes a bias political press and turmoil. This has sometimes been unworthy of our society, we must remember there is only one killer.

With extreme political views ABB has tried to justify what he did. Nobody can justify his vicious act of killing when taking a closer look at his extreme political views, not even himself, and he knows it.

Silence is not the answer to our problem, we need openness and not censorship and oppression.  We do not want political correctness to suffocate a fair debate. We also need to be able to stand up to extreme political views in an open society. This is important, or it could sink deep underground and get hidden in the underworld of internet.

Children are the lifeline to the future, the young victims from Utøya will never be brought back. ABB should not be brought back either, to society.

We can only imagine the pain of all the young victims that survived this tragic day, they will surely need support for a very long time.

Victims of Oslo can be heard for free on this link, and If you like my blog and music please share it with as many as possible!

Thanks for reading and listening, and may 2012 be a more peaceful year.
